Kelly Rentz, President
Kelly is the Director of Choirs and Drama at Colony High School, as well as the coach for the Marching Band’s Color Guard. She has a degree in Music Education with a Vocal Emphasis from Stetson University and has taught Pre-School, Elementary, Middle, and High School Choral Music. She enjoys directing and collaborating with some of the most talented people in the Valley! She is a veteran performer and director who has appeared on stage as well as providing support behind the scenes for numerous productions at VPA and at the Glenn Massay Theater. Kelly resides in Palmer with her husband of 29 years, Kyle, and her dramatic collegiate daughters, Charly and Jessica.
Ryan Moravitz, Vice President
Ryan is thrilled to join the Valley Performing Arts Board of Directors. He brings a wealth of experience from his previous board roles with schools, churches, missions, community organizations, and various non-profits throughout Minnesota, from where he relocated to Alaska. Ryan holds a Master's degree in Non-Profit Leadership and Fundraising. Last season, he made his debut with VPA, performing as "Tommy Gunn" in the production "Felons, Flappers, and Foul Play." Outside of the performing arts, Ryan is passionate about the outdoors and enjoys curling at the Palmer Curling Club during the winter months. He looks forward to contributing to the board and helping shape the future vision of Valley Performing Arts.
Micah Muer, Secretary
After serving on the Board Development Committee for a few years and getting a feel for the organization, Micah is excited about joining VPA’s Board of Directors. Since arriving from Minnesota in 2011, he has been a librarian at UAA’s Mat-Su College campus, helping students with research and faculty with instructional technology. Micah has seen many students perform in VPA productions, leading him to believe that Valley Performing Arts plays an important role in helping people of all ages discover their talents. He is proud to be a part of this vital community organization.
Randi Bernier, Treasurer
Randi Bernier was born and raised in Palmer, and graduated from Palmer High, where she heavily involved in the music program as a trumpeter. She attended the Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA. She returned to Palmer in 2016 and has been performing in the VPA pit orchestra for many musicals, as well as freelancing for a number of musical groups, both locally and abroad. She is looking forward to lending her professional experience working with small businesses and non-profits to the VPA board of directors and contributing to such an institution of the arts.
Angel Husher-Rodriguez, Member
Dr. Angel Rodriguez has lived in Wasilla, Alaska since 2015. She is a native of Missouri, attended Hawaii Pacific University on a full-tuition vocal scholarship and received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology with a minor in Theatre. She completed the Doctorate of Optometry program at the University of Missouri - St. Louis, and she is working on her Master of Public Health through the University of Alaska - Anchorage. She has been actively involved with VPA since moving to Wasilla and has performed in a multitude of shows as well as working back-stage as a stage manager and painter. Angel plans to bring her compassion, enthusiasm, and dedicated work ethic to board meetings. Because theater adds so much value to our community, Angel is ecstatic to help elevate Valley Performing Arts.
Dave Nufer, Member
Dave is a retired principal that served over 20 years in the Mat-Su Borough School District. As a long-time Alaskan resident, he provides a broad background of service and public education experience. Dave is an active member at St. John Lutheran Church and has served as the congregational president. He has been an active supporter of VPA for a number of years, volunteering both as an actor in numerous plays as well as a show director. Dave is also a past-president of VPA’s Board of Directors and has served as the Artistic Director. He looks forward to helping VPA continue its emphasis of providing quality live theatre to the community as it strives to serve the needs of the Mat-Su Valley. He is married, has three adult children, and is a proud grandfather – just ask him for pictures! Dave has an active recreational life which includes fishing, golf, and movies.
Stu Graham, Member
is a native of New Mexico that successfully transplanted to Alaska in the mid-80s. A former Air Force officer and health club manager, he now spends his time working for MTA Business Solutions and volunteers as a VPA Board Member as well as being the Chairman of the Board Development Committee. Stu is a former president of the Greater Wasilla Chamber of Commerce and currently serves on the Wasilla City Council. He has occasionally been seen on the VPA stage and is always a willing Valley Performing Arts volunteer.
Kyle Fox, Member
Kyle is the director of Alopex Interaction Design in Palmer, employing artists, writers, programmers, and actors to create marketing for Alaska businesses and organizations. He is a proud patron of the arts and Palmer community member.
